The National Immigration Administration issued an announcement on August 20, 2026, further expanding the 240-hour transit visa-free policy.

Effective August 20, 2026, citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam are eligible for China’s 240-hour transit visa-free policy and the 30-day visa-free entry policy for Hainan. The number of countries eligible for the 240-hour transit visa-free policy has increased from 55 to 57.

Citizens of the 57 eligible countries, including Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam, who are transiting through China to a third country or region, may enter China visa-free through any of the 65 open ports in 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, and stay within the designated areas for no more than 240 hours (10 days), provided that they meet the relevant requirements.

· Citizens of 57 countries that are eligible for transit visa exemption policies.

· Hold a valid international travel document with a validity of at least three months and meet the requirements for entering a third country (region).

· Hold interline passenger tickets or other documents with a specified date and seat within 240 hours, complete the Arrival Card for Temporary Entry Foreigners, and cooperate with checks and inquiries by exit-entry border inspection authorities.

· Europe (40 countries): Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, Russia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Belarus, and Norway.

· America (6 countries): the United States of America, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Chile.

· Oceania (2 countries): Australia and New Zealand.

· Asia (9 countries): South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, and Vietnam.

· A valid ordinary passport issued by one of the 57 eligible countries

· A connecting ticket with a confirmed date and itinerary to a third country or region

· A fully completed Arrival Card for Temporary Entry Foreigners

· Travelers must meet the relevant requirements for entry into the third country or region and cooperate with exit-entry border inspection authorities.

· Inform the airlines when boarding

· Fill an Arrival / Departure Card

· Apply the 240-hour permit

· Claim the luggage and go through the custom

· Leave airport
