Meridian Gate-Main Entrance

Meridian Gate is the main entrance to the Forbidden City, located in the north-south axis of the Forbidden City. This gate lies in the middle along a meridian and faces the sun, thus known as Meridian Gate.

Hall of Prolonged Longevity

Yanshou Tang was located at the west of garden of Palace of Compassion and Tranquility, south of Jiyun Building, nearby west wall of the garden, and its east was symmetric with Hanqing Zhai when it was constructed in the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty.

Gate of Supreme Harmony & Three Main Halls

The center of the outer palace is the Three Main Halls includes Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Central Harmony, and Hall of Preserving Harmony, which is the place where feudal emperors exercised their powers and held a grand ceremony.

East Prosperity Gate

East Prosperity Gate is the east gate of the Forbidden City, which was built in the 18th of Yongle reign of Ming Dynasty (1420). It was opened to the outside world in while the Palace Museum was established for 90 years.

Hall of Clocks and Watches

Chinese had invented “template” and “sundial” by soil and stone slice more than 3,000 years ago, thus China is one of the earliest country that invented timer. Hall of Clocks and Watches was established at the Forbidden City that was located in the axis line of Beijing.

Hall of Treasures

Hall of Treasures is a treasure house that has various jewels, such as shining gold and silver vessel, pearls and jadeites, spun gold phoenix crown, ivory and jade carving, which is unmatched in the world.
